A Public Infrastructure Decarbonization and Low-Carbon Materials Program for Wisconsin Municipalities


In development by the Carbon Leadership Forum Wisconsin Hub, WI-MECRI offers municipalities across Wisconsin a education-focused roadmap for getting started on embodied carbon action.

Participating municipalities pledge to: 

​

MAKE EMBODIED CARBON REDUCTION A GOAL
Identify embodied carbon reduction as a goal for all infrastructure projects and include embodied carbon among sustainability goals in planning documents and sustainability plans


INTRODUCE EMBODIED CARBON ACTION AREAS TO ENGINEERING AND PLANNING TEAMS
All city/county staff involved in specification and/or procurement of building materials and infrastructure planning to participate in an educational on-boarding session


STAY CONNECTED AND INFORMED
Designate a member of engineering or public works staff involved in materials procurement to serve as the your municipality’s embodied carbon engagement and education lead


COMMUNICATE ABOUT EMBODIED CARBON WITH LOCAL PARTNERS
Drive demand for embodied carbon action by industry partners through dialogue and clear identification of embodied carbon reduction goals
